LUCAS-CIDE® CA is an EPA-registered disinfectant and an EPA-certified Safer Choice / Designed for the Environment (DfE) product. Products bearing the EPA DfE logo meet stringent EPA criteria for human health and environmental safety while delivering effective performance when used according to label directions.
DfE-certified products are evaluated to help minimize risks such as skin and eye irritation. Formulations must meet specific pH requirements and exclude ingredients associated with long-term health concerns, including potential carcinogens and substances that may negatively impact children.
EPA’s DfE criteria also assess environmental impact, including how quickly ingredients break down and their effects on aquatic life. This helps reduce environmental harm compared to conventional disinfectants.
Before earning the DfE designation, EPA reviews every ingredient in the formulation, including trace components and impurities, to ensure compliance with its human health and environmental standards.
As with all EPA-registered antimicrobial products, any sanitizing or disinfecting claims are supported by laboratory testing data reviewed and approved by the EPA. Claims apply only when the product is used according to label directions.
Manufacturers participating in the DfE program are required to consider opportunities to reduce the environmental impact of product packaging where feasible.

EPA/DfE recognition does not constitute endorsement of this product. The DfE logo indicates that, based on information provided by the manufacturer, the product’s formulation contains ingredients with more favorable human health and environmental characteristics than conventional products of the same type. EPA’s evaluation does not include independent chemical analysis or assessment of non-ingredient claims.
